T’was many days before the Holidays and nowhere did anyone want to think about Winter’s naps, snow or Black Friday.

But, like the ugly sweater that shone its way to the annual party, so too must the time-honored tradition of Holiday Leggings come haunting us once again. Wait, you’ve never heard of the Holiday Legging tradition? Well, then here we go…

Here’s the deal: we’ve got at least twelve SmittyGood (and often sick) holiday legging ideas that we just can’t keep to ourselves. We’ll announce then on Instagram and Facebook. We’ll mix it up and you’ll have plenty to choose from for your holiday gifting.

Be warned that SmittyGood leggings are printed and sewn to-order, so if you’re aiming to get your hands on any of these masterpieces (or any other SmittyGoods) you’ll need to place your orders with some lead-time. Typically, apparel items are printed, embroidered, sewn and packaged within 3-5 working days, and then ship as fast as you want them to ship. So – please plan ahead no matter what holiday you celebrate. We don’t offer rush orders.

Our ixc line of apparel begs the wearer to exclaim their existence on this earth as an active free spirit – without the fuss.

The ixc line presents itself, at-a-glance, as smartly simple and no-nonsense line of apparel perfect for exercise. Upon deeper examination, however, ixc exceeds expectations and excites. (Lots of x’s – get the idea?)

What’s up with the logo? It says I exist. I excel. I am exceptional. But, I don’t need to flaunt it. Stop complaining and just be.

But, that’s only the tip of the iceberg. Bring two or more people together and we can accomplish even greater things. With each other’s help and support, we become more powerful than ourselves alone. We intertwine and stand with no excuses.

People power. No fuss.

One of our apparel lines is named “Apophic” – a line of somewhat absurd yet beautiful products adorned with photography, illustrations and other craziness.

We like to pronounce it similarly to a red wine of a similar name, rather than pop-hick (which might actually be a good moniker for Papa Smitty). But, what does it mean, exactly? Well, its origin is traced, most recently, to the ApophicArts collection of artistic works created by Papa Smitty spurred on by a 365 Photo Project he undertook a few years back in which he was forced to focus on taking a photo every day for a year. The photos ranged from minuscule details of everyday objects to blurry lights to sometimes beautiful objects. When taking photos, by itself, became tiresome, Papa Smitty began to build elaborate photo assemblages wherein one photo was duplicated numerous times and overlapped and multiplied until some other object appeared.

Loosely, the word grew from the term “apophenia” which centers around seeing things that really aren’t there, or finding patterns in randomness. Seeing a face in the grill of a car is one type of apophenia. But, so is seeing a puppy in a puffy cloud. Even gambling or fortune-telling are related to the idea…finding patterns and attempting to create meaning from the randomness of the world around.

Many of the Apophic apparel items in our ever-growing collection are explorations of design applied to garments. Many are just cool colors and patterns that look great on a body.

What do you think?

On one hand, we’re just babies. On the other, we’re old pros.

Smitty’s Workshop, where SmittyGoods got its start, has been helping businesses build their brands online and in their shops for nearly twenty years. But, aside from our SmittyPages.com website and our ApophicArts tumblr blog, this is the first website we’ve built that has been officially “ours.”

What we’re developing at SmittyGoods.com is more than just a website. It’s more than an e-commerce store. It’s a full-fledged business with a unique brand, products, customer service, innovative ideas about how to bring great things to our audience, and a team looking to grow something that is uniquely ours.

In the photo above, all fresh and new, are Abbey, our CEO-in-Training, and Papa Smitty, our COO, CMO and CFO. Abbey is a performer, athlete, dancer (and currently still in High School!) Papa Smitty is an artist, tech dude, problem-solver and late-night strummer of guitars.

We may not know, exactly, what we’ve gotten ourselves into, but we sure have been having fun doing it. We’re looking forward to collaborating to see where SmittyGoods leads us, together, and hope that the whole Smitty family one day gets involved.
